Tabataly by rustunit

Last updated: July 16, 2026

The short version: Tabataly does not collect, store, share, or transmit any personal data to us. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking — everything the app does stays on your device. Tabataly runs entirely on your iPhone and needs no Apple Watch. If you use the optional Apple Watch companion, your heart rate, calories, and saved workout stay on your devices and in Apple Health — they are never sent to us or anyone else.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers the Tabataly iPhone and Apple Watch app (the “App”), published by rustunit (“we”, “us”). It explains what data the App handles and where it stays.

2. Data we collect

We collect nothing. The App does not gather personal information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, contacts, or location, and it sends no data of any kind to us or to any server. We do not ask you to create an account or to sign in. The only health data the App ever touches is described in section 4, and it never reaches us.

3. Data we store

Your workout settings (activity time, rest time, and number of rounds) are kept only on your device so the App can remember your last setup. This data never leaves your device, is not readable by us, and is removed if you delete the App.

4. Health data & the Apple Watch companion

Tabataly is a standalone iPhone timer and works fully without an Apple Watch. Used on iPhone alone, the App reads and writes no health data at all.

If you run a workout with the optional Apple Watch companion, then during that workout the App reads your heart rate and active energy (calories) from the watch’s sensors to show them live on your wrist. When you tap End Workout, the App saves that workout — together with its heart-rate and active-energy data — to Apple Health, so it counts toward your Activity rings.

This happens only on your own devices. Your live heart rate and calories may be relayed briefly from your watch to your paired iPhone over Apple’s device-to-device connection so the phone can display them during the session; they are shown live and not stored by the App. All saved health data lives in Apple Health, which you control in the Health app. Granting these permissions is optional — if you deny them, the timer still runs and simply won’t show or save those metrics. We never receive, store, or transmit your health data, and it is never sent to any server or third party.

5. Data we share

Because we collect and store no personal data, there is nothing for us to share. Any health data stays in Apple Health on your device under your control. We do not sell, rent, or disclose any information to third parties. The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

6. Network access

The App works entirely offline. It does not require an internet connection to run a workout and does not send your data — including any health data — to us or to any server. The only network activity is Apple’s local device-to-device link between your iPhone and Apple Watch (see section 4) and the outbound links in the App that open our website in your browser if you choose to tap them.

7. Device permissions

8. Children’s privacy

The App is safe for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Apple’s role

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Any data Apple collects as part of providing the App Store (for example, download or purchase records), and any health data you store in Apple Health, is handled under Apple’s Privacy Policy, not by us, and is outside our control.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
